Vinyl Components Cleaning

A mild dish soap and water solution applied with a soft cloth will remove most dirt from vinyl surfaces. After application, remove soap film using a manually applied, water rinse. We do not recommend that solvents, abrasives or pressurized washers be used to clean your Newmar windows. Use of these products can permanently damage components and void warranties.

Lubrication

We recommend that operating components (hinges, guide arms, tracks and rotor gears) be inspected and lubricated using a silicone release spray or light machine oil (3in1) on a yearly basis.

Important note: Do not spray any lubricants or oils on any glass surfaces.

Screen Cleaning Tip: Clean screens by first removing, then wash on a flat surface using a mild soap and water mixture. Rinse, wipe dry and reinstall.

Warning: Insect screens are not intended to stop children or other objects from falling out an open window. For additional safety devices, contact a building safety supply retailer.

Newmar Sliding Windows

Only premium quality components are used in the Newmar horizontal sliding window. A 100% pure, UV stabilized PVC mainframe and sash are fusion welded to ensure a weather tight seal. They are used in combination with the highest quality hardware and weather seal components.

Cleaning and Maintenance

It is imperative that the track insert area that the operating (sliding) sash operates within be cleaned and well lubricated. Cleaning should be done with a mild soap and water mixture. Lubricate this area with a silicone or Teflon spray.

Important note: Do not spray any lubricants or oils on any glass surfaces.

Lock and Keeper Adjustments

Due to normal house deflection, it may become necessary to adjust the locking mechanism on your sliding window. Using a #2 Robertson (square head) screwdriver, loosen the two screws that secure the keeper. The keeper can then be re-positioned and tested for correct location. Re-tighten screws (do not over-tighten as damage may result).

Sash Removal

The operating portion of this window can be easily removed. Merely slide the sash to the center of the window frame, grip both sides of the operating sash and lift up. The bottom portion of the sash will now be free to swing out of its frame and into the house. Reverse the process to reinsert the sash.

Condensation Tip: Condensation is the appearance of moisture on the interior glass pane surface of any window or door product. It is a natural occurrence entirely related to low outdoor air temperatures in combination with excessive indoor humidity levels. New homes are particularly susceptible to condensation, as the materials used in the construction process tend to be high in moisture content. In addition, modern new homes tend to be virtually airtight which can restrict air exchange.

The best way to combat condensation is by controlling the humidity level in the home. This can be done by fully utilizing ventilation fans, allowing full air circulation and ensuring that all vent connections (particularly clothes dryers) are secured. Newmar does not recommend the use of household humidifiers as they may contribute to condensation concerns. Steel Entry Systems

Newmar offers a wide range of door sizes and styles to suit your specific needs. Regardless of the configuration of your entry system, you can rest assured that it is up to the challenges that our harsh environment demands. Industry leading, high quality components and innovative designs make Newmar the absolute leader in entrance system technology.

Tough 24-gauge galvanized steel, foam insulated door slabs provide protection against the most extreme weather conditions. An industry leading, energy efficient, thermally broken, self-draining sill system adds to exceptional performance levels. Full perimeter compression weather stripping ensure a tight seal and minimize heat loss.

Maintenance

Newmar entry systems are virtually maintenance free. However, there are a few tips that can help ensure peak performance.

Drainage Ports

The aluminum sill of your entry system has a grey drainage area located directly below the door slab, which connects to exterior drainage ports. It is crucial that these drainage areas are unobstructed. This will allow any water to flow away from the interior of your home. These areas should be cleaned of any debris or obstruction on a regular basis.

Striker Plates

Although Newmar does not supply or install lockset striker plates, they are an important part of the overall performance of your entry system. These plates need to be positioned so that the door slab firmly contacts the weather stripping on the door frame. Due to normal house deflection, you may be required to reposition these plates to maintain optimal performance. Contact your home builder or lock set supplier for more adjustment details.

Newmar Sliding Patio Door

The Newmar Series 3000 Patio Door is a sturdy, functional and ascetically pleasing new product. Featuring a 100% pure UV stabilized PVC, thermally broken mainframe. Fusion welded corner joints assure a perfect seal and guard against water infiltration. In addition, proven locking and safety features make the Newmar 3000 Sliding Patio door the choice for your families’ comfort and security.

Maintenance

Our doors are virtually maintenance free and require only routine cleaning (using mild soap and water as with our vinyl casement). The operating panel glides on adjustable, tandem steel ball bearing roller assemblies. These rollers can be adjusted for height using a #3 Robertson screwdriver. The screen wheels can be adjusted in a similar manner using a Philips screwdriver. An application of light lubricating oil (3 in 1 for example) along the sash and screen guides can ease the operation of the door.

Normal house deflection may require the lock and keeper mechanism to be adjusted. The keeper plate is located on the mainframe parallel to the lock handle. Loosen the screws that secure the keeper, reposition as required and retighten the screws.

Tip: Keep interior sills clean and ensure that all exterior drainage ports are unblocked.  A failure to allow for adequate drainage can lead to water penetration and potential property damage.

Glass Cleaning

During the construction process, it is normal that dirt and debris may be exposed to the glass products.  A simple solution is usually sufficient to clean the glass surface.

General Cleaning

  • Mild soap and water or vinegar and water
  • Use clean, soft, non-abrasive, absorbent cloths

Important note: As noted in the GANA (Glass Association of North America) proper procedures for cleaning architectural glass products bulletin. Never use razor blades or other scrappers on the glass surface. Using razors can cause irreparable damage to the glass surface and scratch glass.
